Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care

WHAT CANCER PATIENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BLOCK CENTER

Patient Diane Klenke

-Survivor of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer

“It was following my initial visit to the Block Center that I started to feel hopeful and knew that I had a dedicated team on my side. By the time I started my treatments I believed – in spite of my previous prognosis - that I'd be here to see my daughter walk down the aisle and my first grandchild born. And I was right.”

Patient Gerry Jilka

-Survivor of Stage 4 colon cancer

“The care I received at the Block Center was extraordinary. And I met so many wonderful people there – staff and patients – that as grateful as I was when I was told I was free of cancer, I knew I’d miss the friendships I made. I made the decision to come to the Block Center carefully, I live in California and the decision to commute back and forth for treatments wasn’t something I took lightly. I felt strongly that they would provide the type of care I was looking for, and that I’d found a place that shared my commitment to fight this disease.”

Patient Pam Molinare

- Survivor of Advanced breast cancer with liver metastases

“As a registered nurse, I knew about different treatment options, and sought out an integrative treatment program. The environment and staff were also very important to me, and I knew right away the Block Center was the right place for me to undergo treatment. My chemotherapy wasn’t what someone thinks of when they think about a chemo treatment. I usually had several friends with me, we’d have a ‘small party,’ talking and laughing. I gave myself positive messages and told myself the chemo was getting rid of my disease. I learned about diet and nutrition, how it affected my disease and treatment, and found the dietary changes a lot easier than I thought they would be! In 2004, 5 years after I was first diagnosed, I was deemed free of cancer.”

Patient Marta Thomas

-Survivor of Stage 4 breast cancer

The Block Center treated me, not just my disease. They answered all of my questions, discussed all of my options, and valued my input when it came to decisions about my treatment.”
