| Penny B. Block,
M.A., Executive Director |
For over 25 years Block Center cofounder Penny B. Block has been developing and directing programs to help individuals maximize their health through nutritional and life style strategies, and comprehensive stress care. A graduate of Cornell University and Northwestern University, she is currently completing work on her Ph.D at the University of Chicago with a clinical emphasis on behavioral medicine and psychological oncology. Beyond her graduate academic and clinical training, she has had advanced training in the use of EMDR to diminish trauma and anxiety; clinical hypnosis in cancer management; mind/body medicine focusing on the physiology of stress and relaxation; and the technique of cognitive restructuring. Penny has published articles on integrative care for cancer patients in peer-reviewed journals, and is the author of Eating Well, a dietary guide featuring healthy, delicious cuisine. She has also appeared on cable and network television. Besides directing the educational and integrative clinical teams, and her individual work with patients, Penny is an active member of the Block Center research team, as well as an editorial consultant for Integrative Cancer Therapies, a Sage Science Press journal.
