Our Nutritional Care Specialists

Our clinical dietitians concentrate on helping you discover dietary choices that work to improve your overall health and the quality of your life. They combine encouragement, specific knowledge, and the understanding that your uniqueness and individual circumstances deserve our complete attention and care. Through informative discussions, they address the "how, what, and why" of sound nutrition – ranging in topics from practical guidelines for food selection to how certain foods and supplements contain natural anti-angiogenesis properties. Our clinical dietitians strive to help you make your dietary transition easier, they work toward creating a nutritional plan you can enjoy as part of your daily life.

Julie Fulton, RD, LDN, NSCA-CPT

Julie is a dietitian and fitness professional dedicated to helping others attain optimal health. Her experiences in nutrition, culinary arts, fitness, and communications enable Julie to promote health and well being in an exciting way.

Her career began at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she worked as the Coordinator of the Peer Health Education Program. After relocating to Chicago, Julie earned a BS in Nutrition from Benedictine University in Lisle. She also became a certified fitness instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE).  In 1999, Julie completed the National Strength and Conditioning Association Personal Trainer Certification (NSCA-CPT) and was also named the West Suburban Dietetic Association’s Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year.Completing her dietetic internship at Loyola University Medical Center, Julie received specialized training in the areas of weight management, sports nutrition, cardiology, and diabetes.

She has combined these skills in the fitness classes, personal training and health education seminars that she offers.  As a Health Promotion Specialist, Julie provides an array of health care services including cardiovascular, bone density, diabetes and colorectal screenings.   

Since 1998, she has served as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist at the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care and Optimal Health.Julie has successfully completed coursework in culinary arts at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago.  She routinely conducts Cooking Demonstrations throughout the Chicago area for corporate clients including Humana, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Unicare, Health Maintenance Institute and DePaul University and also offers this service for patients and their families. In addition, Julie presents to small and large groups on a variety of health related topics such as:

  • Eating to Enhance Immunity
  • Recipe modification/Healthy cooking
  • Optimal lifestyle choices
  • Weight management

Jacki Glew, MS, RD, LDN

Jacki Glew is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN).  Prior to receiving her BS in Nutrition & Dietetics from Northern Illinois University, she completed her BA in Spanish at Drake University in Des Moines, IA.   She fulfilled her Master’s degree at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, where her clinical rotations focused on oncology.  She conducted research on the use of dietary supplements among hospitalized patients.  Jacki previously educated dialysis patients with renal failure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver disease, and HIV/AIDS.  She is currently a member of the American Dietetic Association, Chicago Dietetic Association, and the Renal Nutrition, Oncology Nutrition, and Nutrition in Complementary Care Dietetic Practice Groups.  Jacki is dedicated to educating people about proper nutrition and helping people improve their lives through nutritional counseling.

 

Mark Meyers, R.D.

Mark Meyers brings a vast array of skills to Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care. In addition to being a member of the research team, he also is experienced as a teacher, counselor, and registered dietician.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate with a B.S. in nutrition, Mark also has completed graduate courses in research methods and advanced clinical nutrition at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is the author of the Pre-School Nutrition Educational Module for the USDA, and he is a member of the American Dietetic Association.
