Studies currently being conducted at the Block Center
Currently the Block Center is conducting clinical studies in
the following areas:
Center research staff are conducting a formal review of
medical outcomes of chemotherapy use at the Center,
emphasizing the following:
• How well patients tolerate chemotherapies used for colon
cancer
• Chrono-chemotherapy and colon cancer
• Survival of advanced breast cancer patients
• Survival of advanced prostate cancer patients
The Center is participating in AVF3991n, the ARIES study,
sponsored by Genentech. This is a nationwide registry study
on patients using Avastin for colon and lung cancer in which
health outcomes and medication side effects are monitored
long-term.
The Center is participating in AVF4349n, the VIRGO study,

The Center is participating in V121-002, a nationwide study
sponsored by Merck of a vaccine that may be useful to
protect immunocompromised patients from shingles.
We are working with a researcher from the Karolinska
Institute in Sweden to explore concepts of healing and
curing among practitioners and patients at our Center. This
is part of an international study.
