Chemo Suites
An overwhelmingly popular feature of The Block Center is our Private Chemotherapy Suites. For newly diagnosed patients, it would seem difficult to imagine receiving chemotherapy in open areas with no privacy. However, the vast majority of hospitals and clinics employ this type of environment for the simple reason that space, volume and turnover are key components to the bottom line. The needs of the patient -- to visit with friends and relatives, speak privately to nurses, doctors and mind body spirit team members, meditate, relax, and sometimes just not feel well -- do not fit into this model. We recognized this traditional discord from the very beginning which is why we provide this space; a key component which allows us to best deliver our message of integrative care and personalized approach.
Nevertheless, our goal in providing private chemotherapy suites is not to isolate you but to provide a comfortable environment when it is necessary. Our primary objective is to engage you actively in your care and to encourage you to participate in small group programs and cooking demonstrations that occur in our public spaces. As such, you will be challenged to leave your room but when it matters most, it will always be there for you.
